Broom Wars backstory
I remember when I was in sixth grade, I was playing with a broom in physical education, but Mr. Bruce saw me do it, and he tried to grab it from me. He then spins with the broom in his hands and I held onto it, but I let go and I crash into a mat on a wall, with Mr. Bruce making an airplane-like sound as I ran towards the mat.
After P.E., Mr. Bruce and I came up with this silly idea for a cartoon based on the above fact, so I wrote and illustrated a storyboard based on the idea and named it "Broom Wars." I had plans for making it an animation that was in a really Looney Tunes-like style, but I apparently never animate this time because I draw horribly. It wasn't until March 31, 2009, when I decided to animate the cartoon since I started to draw much better, because I saw one hand-drawn animated cartoon on YouTube that has piano music.
I did lose the storyboard long before I animate the cartoon, but I already know the idea. I don't even draw the animation at my house, but at my school, where I sketch in the frames in a notepad. Sometimes I was told I'm not allowed to animate when it's time for homework, which I don't like the most.
Production for this cartoon took three days, and whenever I draw the frames, my hands are killing me. I brought the notepad with the animation home from school, torn the frames out, went over to my computer and scan them. After the scanning of the frames I open up Toon Boom and import them. Some frames were edited on Photoshop and Paint.
After the animation was completed I exported it using Toon Boom and imported it to Adobe Premiere. After that, I search for the sound effects I wanted to feature in the cartoon and download them. Also, I tried to look for some piano music available for download that sounds like it fits for an old cartoon, but I couldn't find it, but I downloaded some piano music than was very gentle sounding, and included it in the cartoon.
I've imported and combined a batch of animation, sounds and music on Premiere and made the title cards using said program and Photoshop. Production was completed on April 3rd, and the cartoon was slated for YouTube release on April 10th, although it would take a very long time to release it days after I completed production, so I'll just go ahead and release it on YouTube on April 4th, the day after the completion of the cartoon.
I asked some of my school friends to see this cartoon on YouTube, and they did, but they liked it. It started getting a lot of views after it was released, except some viewers are people who experimented in Toon Boom, and they liked it because of the program I used to animate Broom Wars with, even though I want it to be a discussion about just itself, an entire video.
Some people mistaken this cartoon for a parody of "Star Wars," which is very false to me because I said in the cartoon's description that it wasn't a spoof. It's just a cartoon about a battle over the broom, hence the title.
